How it works

A useful distinction

Fair dice produce unequal sum probabilities

With two six-sided dice, seven has six ordered combinations while two has only one. A fair roller therefore produces seven more often over many rolls. Equal chances for individual faces do not make every total equally likely.

Reading repeated dice rolls

Choose the number of dice and the number of sides to match the game or experiment. The total and the individual outcomes provide different information. Repeated rolls can produce streaks, and a short run need not look evenly distributed. The simulation generates outcomes under its stated method; it does not predict a future physical roll or guarantee a particular game result.

Roll dice: formula and assumptions

Each side is selected with equal probability using rejection sampling.

Common questions

Does a previous roll change the probability of the next one?

No. Each new selection uses fresh randomness with equally likely sides; a streak does not make a particular next face due.

Will changing a field silently reroll the dice?

No. Results are generated when you select Calculate, so editing inputs alone does not produce a new set of rolls.
