What this tool helps you work out

To compare subscriptions, convert each billing cycle into an annual equivalent and add the totals. Divide by 12 for an average monthly budget. Finflo lets you model keeping a plan, canceling it, or switching to an annual offer. The savings are a full-year comparison of the entered plans, not a prediction of the exact timing of your next bills.

How it works

A useful distinction

An annual discount needs enough usage months

An annual offer of 100 beats a 10 monthly plan only after more than ten paid months, ignoring refunds and other charges. The tracker compares full years; separately check whether you expect to use the service that long.

Put different subscription billing cycles on one basis

Add one row for each recurring service or membership and enter its price per billing cycle. Choose weekly, every four weeks, monthly, quarterly, or yearly. These schedules are not interchangeable. A service billed every four weeks has 13 modeled payments in a 52-week budgeting year, whereas monthly billing has 12. The annual equivalent makes those differences visible before you compare prices.

Use the same currency for all rows and include taxes in the entered cycle price if you want them reflected in the budget. The tool does not fetch prices from providers or read bank transactions. Keep the labels recognizable so that a saved calculation can act as your local subscription list. If a service is free for a limited trial, enter the continuing price when you want to model the cost after the trial.

Subscription example: cancel one plan and switch another

Suppose streaming costs 15 per month, cloud storage costs 10 per month, and an unused membership costs 20 per month. The current annual total is 180 + 120 + 240 = 540, or 45 per month on average. Keeping streaming, switching cloud storage to a 100 annual offer, and canceling the unused membership produces a planned annual total of 280.

The modeled annual saving is 540 − 280 = 260, equivalent to approximately 21.67 per month. The cloud-storage switch contributes 20 of that saving; canceling the membership contributes 240. These figures assume a full year under the new arrangements. They do not imply that a prepaid membership will refund unused months or that cancellation will take effect immediately.

Compare annual offers without hiding the cash commitment

An annual plan can have a lower annual equivalent while requiring more cash upfront. Enter the offered annual price in its own column and select Switch to annual offer to include it in the planned total. If the annual offer costs more than the current schedule, the saving is negative. The calculator keeps that difference visible rather than labeling every switch as a benefit.

The monthly equivalent is a budgeting average, not a monthly charge for an annual plan. A 100 annual subscription averages approximately 8.33 per month, but the actual bill may be 100 on a single renewal date. Use your own cash-flow calendar to plan payment timing. This tool does not model promotional expiry, price escalation, cancellation penalties, refunds, or a specific billing date.

Turn the comparison into a record you can revisit

Calculate the plan and save it with a date or descriptive name. When you return, restore the saved inputs from My workspace, revise the prices or planned actions, and calculate again. The save is explicit: changing a row does not automatically overwrite a previous record. Keeping separate before-and-after plans makes the source of a spending change easier to inspect.

Selecting Cancel in this calculator only changes the scenario. It does not contact the provider, revoke a payment authorization, or send a cancellation request. Complete any real changes through the service’s own process and retain the confirmation. Finflo also does not send renewal reminders. Your local records remain in this browser until you remove them or clear site data; use a workspace backup for a separate copy.

Subscription spending & savings: formula and assumptions

Annual equivalent = cycle price × cycles per year. Monthly equivalent = annual equivalent ÷ 12. Savings = current annual cost − planned annual cost.

Uses 52 weekly payments, 13 four-weekly payments, 12 monthly payments, 4 quarterly payments, or 1 annual payment. These are budgeting equivalents, not a dated billing calendar. No cancellation fees, refunds, promotional expiry, or proration are assumed.

What to keep in mind

Use one currency throughout. Currency selection changes labels, not exchange rates. Calculate, then save a named scenario in My workspace to keep it in this browser; export a workspace backup to move it to another device.

Common questions

Is every four weeks the same as monthly billing?

No. The budgeting model uses 13 four-weekly payments per year and 12 monthly payments. At the same price per cycle, the four-weekly plan has a higher annual equivalent.

Does choosing Cancel actually cancel my subscription?

No. It sets the planned annual cost to zero for comparison. You must complete any cancellation directly with the provider.

Are the savings the amount I will save this calendar year?

Not necessarily. They compare a full year under the current and proposed arrangements. Remaining prepaid periods, renewal dates, refunds, and penalties are not modeled.

Why does switching to an annual plan show negative savings?

The annual price you entered is higher than the current plan’s annual equivalent. A negative result shows that the proposed change increases the modeled cost.

Does the tracker connect to my bank account?

No. You enter subscriptions manually or import supported rows. The tool calculates locally and saves only when you explicitly save a calculation.

Will Finflo remind me before a renewal?

No. This version compares costs and stores local plans. It does not maintain a reminder service or send notifications when a bill is due.
