How it works
A doubled balance may buy no more
If both your lump sum and prices double over the same horizon, the nominal future value doubles while purchasing power stays unchanged. Set contributions to zero to isolate this comparison from additional money you save.
Future value of a lump sum
Set Regular contribution to 0 to project a single amount. For example, 10,000 at 5% compounded annually for 10 years becomes 16,288.95 before tax, fees and inflation. Enter a regular contribution to include recurring deposits. The future balance is an amount in future money; use the inflation assumption to also estimate its purchasing power.
Reading a future value projection
Future value translates today's balance and planned contributions into a modeled ending amount. It is sensitive to the time horizon, return assumption, and timing of deposits. Compare several plausible inputs rather than interpreting a single projection as a promised balance. Unless the selected calculation explicitly adjusts for inflation, the result is an amount in future money rather than today's purchasing power.
Savings growth: formula and assumptions
Each period: balance grows at the equivalent periodic rate, then a contribution is added (or added first for beginning-of-period deposits).
Returns and inflation are assumptions held constant. Annual taxes on positive interest are deducted at year end.
Monthly + annual contributions: formula and assumptions
Ending balance = opening growth + each contribution grown from its event time − modeled interest tax.
The annual stream is additional to twelve monthly contributions. Increases apply separately to each stream. Tax settles at year ends and the final partial year; inflation adjusts purchasing power.

What to keep in mind
Projected returns are hypothetical. Actual returns, fees, tax treatment, and deposit terms may differ.

Common questions
What is the difference between future value and purchasing power?
Future value is the projected nominal balance. The inflation-adjusted figure discounts that balance using the assumed change in prices.
Can contributions increase over time?
The dual-stream mode supports separate increases for monthly and annual contributions. Returns and inflation remain modeled assumptions.
